Lai Lee Bowden Obituary
After a painful battle with breast cancer, Lai Lee Bowden of Lake Jackson went
home to the Lord peacefully on Saturday, August 09, 2003. Lai was born in June
13, 1954 in Canton, China. She and her family emigrated from Hong Kong to
Houston when she was 17 years old on July 1971. She graduated from Lamer Sr.
High School in Houston in 1974. She started working for Dow Chemical after
graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in 1978 with a BS degree in
Chemical Engineering. She had been working for Dow Chemical as Engineer for 25
years.
Lai preceded by death her parents, Kam Chi and Yui Wai Lee and her grandparents
Yu Thoy and Charles Lee of Houston. Her husband, Bob Bowden, and their two
daughters survive her, Caitlin of 12 and Denise of 8. She is also survived by
an aunt, Kam Yin Chan and her husband in Hong Kong, two sisters, Sui Dair and
her husband, Sai El-Srouji and her husband of Houston, three brothers, Teet Lee,
King Lee and his wife, Tin Lee and his wife of Houston and seven nephews and
nieces, Edmond Dare, Chiu Mo Lee, Daisy Lee, Chi Wai Lee. Oi Lee, Stephen El-Srouji,
Jason El-Srouji and Melanie Bowden.
Lai is grateful and felt blessed to marry a loving, caring and dependable
husband for 15 years and have two healthy daughters. She is grateful her
journey to home was not too long and was not too slow. She is grateful and felt
blessed that she had so many relatives, friends, and even strangers care about
her and pray for her. She is also thankful Dow Chemical was accommodating her
work schedule during her illness.
Visitation will be 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. Monday at Lakewood Chapel. Funeral
services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Lakewood Chapel with
cremation following at Grace crematory in Hitchcock, Texas. Lai requested that
any donations, flowers, or sympathetic gestures be directed to the American
Cancer Society in her memory.
